I can't give a specific time when LITS will be ready to unblock the installation of High Sierra on college owned machines - it depends on the outcome of compatibility testing for a lot of MHC curricular software. It isn't actually related to the Spectre issue. Apparently, for solid state machines, installing High Sierra involves converting to a new file system and so requires some special care and some folks have run into difficulties. If you have a specific need for High Sierra on your machine and feel confident that the software that you need are compatible with High Sierra, you can request that the block be removed - just let me know.
