Yosemite (OS X 10.10.1) is known to have problems when users try to install Write-N-Cite version 4 (WNC4).
Before you begin, make sure you upgrade to the latest version of Word for Mac.
Then your next step should be to install Java. However, if you install Java 7 or Java 8 from Oracle you may see an error message that states Java Runtime Environment is not installed when you try to run ProQuest's installer, and the installation of WNC4 will not finish.
To correct this error, uninstall the Java plug in called "JavaAppletPlugin.plugin" (search for it under Applications in Finder, then drag it to trash).
Then go to the link below for Java for OS X 2014-001 and install this version instead. It is a good idea to restart your Mac before completing installation of WNC4.
If you upgraded your older Mac to Yosemite, you will need to turn on your Java application before you attempt to install WNC4.
You can obtain WNC4 by logging in to your RefWorks account (see also link below) and selecting Tools > Write-N-Cite.
If you decided not to upgrade from Mavericks ( OS X 10.9.x) to Yosemite (OS X 10.10.x) then WNC4 should be installed after you have obtained Java 7 or 8 from the Oracle web site (the most recent versions at the time of writing are jre7_71 or jre8_25).
