Assuming you mean the popular legend that students won't graduate if they don't walk up the staircase on the same side of the atrium as their class flag, then the answer is we don't know. There is no official record of such a tradition in the Archives, though we can tell you that construction of the atrium was completed in 1992 and the flags were made in 1993. Further, a LITS staffer who happens to be class of '93 tells us that she has no recollection of this tradition so it must have taken some years after that to evolve. Ignore or follow it as you will, but first ask yourself - do you feel lucky? :)
